Animals that live in a tropical rain forest scale from bugs (like butterflies) to large mammals (like jaguars). Different animals live in different layers, or strata, of a rain forest.
These are the layers of a rain forest.
In the Emergent and Canopy layers of the rain forest live colorful birds like the Keel Billed Toucan or the long-tailed Quetzal. Large animals mainly stay on the Forest Floor but some like howler monkeys or sloth live in the trees, or are arboreal (live in trees).
